The 2020-2021 school year will start on Wednesday, August 19th with both in person and at home learning options. BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is in place this year; please make sure your students bring a charged device to use for learning to school each day.

2020 COVID-19 Student Protocol


  • Signs and Symptoms Guidelines
    • Temperature of 99.0-99.9  we will assess this every 5 minutes x3. If student/staff members continue to be within these limits they will be sent home.  Individuals are presumed contagious at least two days prior to symptom onset.  Boyd ISD is lowering their minimum temperature during the pandemic to be proactive in protecting our students and community. 
    • Temperatures greater than 100.0 student/staff members will be sent home immediately.
    • Sore Throat
    • Cough that causes difficulty breathing (CHANGE FROM YOUR BASELINE)
    • Diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain
    • Headache (A CHANGE FROM YOUR BASELINE)
    • Loss of senses (taste, smell)
  • SEND/STAY Home guidelines 
    • FEVER
    • Two symptoms (even if no fever)
    • Respiratory symptoms and loss of senses are considered COVID specific symptoms and will be sent home
    • CONTACT YOUR CAMPUS PRINCIPAL
  • Close Contact Guidelines
    • Directly exposed to infectious secretions
    • Being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of at least 15 minutes
    • NOT wearing a mask during your contact
    • COVID testing for close contact IS NOT NECESSARY
    • Boyd ISDs role NOT to determine close contacts in the absence of public health guidance
    • If a student is made aware that they are a close contact to someone who tested positive they will begin quarantine.
  • Quarantine (staying home)- for instance: teacher/student in class tests positive... NO SYMPTOMS
    • Home for 14 days from date of close contact with infectious person
    • Daily temp checks (report to your campus administrator)
    • No need for test
    • If symptoms appear, staff/students will begin to fall under the Return to School requirements.
  • Return to School (Self Isolation) - individuals are/have been showing symptoms
    • Must meet all 3 of the following:
      • 72 hours NO FEVER
      • Continued improvement of symptoms over 72 hours; you should expect to have some residual mild symptoms (fatigue, nasal congestion, cough)
      • 10 school days (14 days)  have passed since symptoms first appeared
    • OR - obtain negative infection test from approved testing location
    • OR - physician note indicating an alternate diagnosis and clearance to return to work/school (in this case you STILL must BE FEVER FREE for 24 hours)
