BMS Spelling Bee scheduled for Feb. 2
The Boyd Middle School Spelling Bee is at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.
Students must sign up by Friday, Jan. 27.
The winner of the spelling bee will advance to the Wise County Spelling Bee Thursday, Feb. 23.

UIL Results
Students made a strong showing at the district UIL Academic meet hosted by Paradise in December.
The eight grade and seventh grade chess teams placed first, and individual chess players placed in the competition. Seventh graders Tristan Warner and Dalton Cooper brought home second and third place ribbons, respectively. Eighth grader Dakota Wolfe placed third, and Braden Thomas was fourth.
Amber Bowen earned first place in ready writing, with Brianna Morrison placing sixth. Willie Bean placed third in science. Dakota Wolfe was sixth in science II.
Libby Bryans was fourth and Peyton Gittings was sixth in impromptu speaking.
Hayden Brown was fifth in dictionary skills.
Kali Bunch earned second place in maps, graphs and charts.
The maps, graphs and charts team took home third place.
Yearbooks for sale
The journalism class is selling 2011-2012 yearbooks. Yearbooks are $20. Yearbooks will be delivered in mid-May. Order forms are available from Mrs. Bourgeois and are also in the middle school office.
Buy football and cheerleading pictures
The journalism class is selling discs of football and cheerleading pictures for $3. The eighth-grade disc contains more than 200 photos taken by journalism students during football season. The seventh-grade disc has 190 photos. The cheerleading disc has more than 60 photos. Discs may be purchased from Mrs. Bourgeois or from a journalism student.
